Iris Rio exists to love God, love people, and serve humanity.
Our mission is to plant churches and missionary bases, and to train, equip, and send missionaries to fulfill God’s call on their lives in a fruitful and transformative way.
Founded by pastors Fred and Fernanda Barros, Iris Rio was birthed in the heart of Rio de Janeiro with the desire to see God’s Kingdom manifested in every area of society, especially in the most needy and forgotten places.
Our Commitment
What drives us is simple yet profound:
-
To love God above all.
-
To love people, no matter their background or condition.
-
To serve humanity, bringing transformation and hope where there is pain and need.
Every church planted, every missionary trained, and every project carried out is the fruit of this commitment to God’s Kingdom.

What we do
in Rio de Janeiro
Actions in communities
We believe the Gospel must be lived out in practical ways. For this reason, our projects reach vulnerable communities, bringing hope, care, and transformation. We are currently present in areas such as: Pavuna, Acari and other communities in Rio de Janeiro. In these communities, we carry out evangelism, discipleship, and social assistance, showing the love of Jesus in tangible ways. Learn more
Iris Global: Harvest School of Missions
In addition to our local projects, Iris Rio runs the Harvest School of Missions, an intensive school designed to prepare missionaries to live out God’s call with impact and excellence.
Throughout the school, students receive both spiritual and practical training and are equipped to serve in different contexts — whether in their own cities, among the nations, or in places where the Gospel has not yet been preached.
Connection with Vida Rio church
Fred and Fernanda Barros are also the founders pastors of Vida Rio, church with campuses both in the Barra da Tijuca and in Xerém, in the metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro.
Students of the Harvest School of Missions have the unique opportunity to be directly involved in Vida Rio church as well as in the social projects of Iris Rio, putting into practice everything they are learning during the school.
This integration strengthens the missionary experience, allowing each student to live ministry in a real, everyday context — serving both the church and the communities we reach. Learn more
